How to contribute
Translate, review, fix mistakes, suggest techniques or clearer wording, and learn the rules that keep translations trustworthy.
Manipedia grows the way an encyclopedia should: slowly, in public, with every change reviewed. Here is how to help.
Fix a mistake
Spotted an error, a weak example or a missing source? Write to us with the entry name and what should change. We plan to make the entries’ source public. Once it is available, you will also be able to suggest changes as a pull request. Entries are plain text files (Markdown), so you can fix a typo or a clumsy sentence directly.
Suggest clearer wording
We want everyone to understand Manipedia: the teenager with their first phone and the grandparent who gets the news from their feed. If a sentence in an entry feels too complicated, too technical or too long, or you have an idea for explaining something more simply, write to us.
We welcome any suggestion that makes an entry easier to follow, whatever the reader’s age or education: a simpler sentence, an everyday comparison or a more familiar example.
Suggest a technique
Send a short description and one real example (screenshot or link). The best candidates are tricks that appear often, across many topics, and do not yet have a page.
Translate
English is the reference version; every other language follows it. To start a new language or help with an existing one:
- Tell us first, so two people do not translate the same entry.
- Translate meaning, not words. Entries should read as if written in your language: same structure, same facts, same sources, natural sentences. See the writing guide in the repository.
- Keep the rules. Neutral tone, invented handles, no quotes from real people without a source, ASCII slugs.
- Review before publishing. Every language goes live only after at least one trusted native speaker other than the translator has reviewed it. This is the one rule we never skip: a subtly distorted translation in a language we cannot read is the main risk to a project like this.
Translators and reviewers are credited on this page if they wish.
Report misuse
If someone is using Manipedia’s name, look or content to deceive (a cloned site, a fake account, an altered share image), tell us. That is, after all, exactly the kind of thing this site is about.
